How to register on HealthTrust VPro

  1. Visit hpro.healthtrustpg.com and click Vendor Registration to create the company account.
  2. Select the appropriate product or service category. The category drives which compliance documents and insurance limits apply.
  3. Upload company documents — general liability insurance certificate, W-9, business license, and any product-specific certifications.
  4. Authorize background checks for each individual sales rep who will visit HCA or HealthTrust facilities.
  5. Pay the applicable credentialing fee. Fee amounts vary by vendor category — current pricing lives inside the VPro portal.
  6. Wait for review and approval. Standard turnaround is 2–6 weeks. Submitting complete documentation on the first attempt is the fastest path.
  7. Download the credential badge or certificate and carry it on visits to any HCA-affiliated facility.

Common requirements at HealthTrust VPro hospitals

Exact requirements vary by facility and product tier. The list below reflects what is commonly requested across HealthTrust-credentialed hospitals.

General Liability InsuranceMinimum $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate. The hospital is typically required as an additional insured. Background CheckIndividual criminal background screening — typically a 7-year lookback through a VPro-approved partner.
Drug Screen10-panel urine test from an approved collection site. Renewed annually or per facility policy.Immunization RecordsSeasonal flu, TB test (PPD or IGRA), Hepatitis B series, MMR, Varicella, Tdap. Titers accepted at many facilities.
HIPAA Training CertificateAnnual HIPAA compliance training. Some facilities accept training completed inside the VPro portal.W-9 / Business LicenseCurrent W-9 form and state business license or registration documents for the vendor company.
Certificate of Insurance (COI)General liability and product liability coverage. Limits vary by tier and product category.Conflict-of-Interest AcknowledgementSigned statement covering financial relationships, gifts, and entertainment policies.

Tip: Keep a single labeled folder of current credentialing documents (insurance COI, immunizations, BG check, drug screen, HIPAA cert). It cuts onboarding time roughly in half when adding new facilities or renewing.

HealthTrust tiering, in plain English

VPro uses three tiers that drive how much documentation is required:

  • Tier 1 — Non-patient-care access only. Lobby, conference rooms, supply chain offices. Lower documentation load.
  • Tier 2 — Clinical area access without direct patient care. Most medical-device and surgical-instrument reps fall in this tier.
  • Tier 3 — Patient-care areas with direct interaction. Highest documentation and training requirements; expect full immunization and background coverage.

Reps often register at the tier the hospital expects them to enter. Registering at Tier 3 by default avoids needing to upgrade mid-cycle.

Who uses HealthTrust VPro

VPro is the credentialing system for the HealthTrust Performance Group hospital network. The largest member is HCA Healthcare — about 180+ hospitals in 20 states. A smaller set of independent HealthTrust members also use VPro for vendor compliance.
